January 1 is just around the corner (quite literally, we’ve got just a few hours left, in some countries, 2018 is already a thing) and so many people are ready to commit to their New-Year resolutions and change their lives, turn them upside down, for… about a week.
Why does it never work?
Yes, you can take a new year as an opportunity for a new start, but it doesn’t really matter when you commit to something. A start of a new year or mid-summer, the only thing that you need is your determination and persistence. Why do so many people fail following their resolutions? Because they think that the “New Year New Me” thing does all the hard work of keeping up to their promise to themselves for them!
Let me tell you a secret – there’s no such a thing as a day in your calendar to circle for making changes in your life because… the day to make changes is today, the moment to take chances and go for something is this very second.
Now is the time to write the first sentence of that novel you have in your head, now is the moment to train for that marathon, now is the right moment to apply for the school you finally want to finish. Now is the moment to resolve to do your best, and every single second of your life is an opportunity to keep doing your best, to work for your dreams and for who you want to be and what you want to achieve.
Book the flights to your dream destination now. Go blind (metaphorically, of course), take risks, start living now.
Nobody else is going to do it for you – and who knows, tomorrow maybe even you won’t be able to do it.
Live every day of your life like if it was the last one, but learn every day like if you were going to live forever.
Now stop finally looking for excuses, don’t wait for 2018 to come and make the best out of what you have left of 2017. Ok, if you already have 2018, make the first day and the whole year count!
With all my love and support, I wish you all the best in 2018 and way beyond that year. Now go and finally book that flight.
Pina
